Skyline Mittens

Check it out– the Skyline Chilly blog now has its very own signature knitting pattern: the Skyline Mittens. This stranded colorwork project calls for two colors of Malabrigo worsted, a yarn you will surely enjoy working with as you create the perfect pair of hip handwarmers. Enjoy all the fun of knitting colorwork, without the repetitiveness of traditional motifs. Your hands will be as hip and urban as you are. Or perhaps your gift recipient dreams of moving to the big city?

Your PDF download is a three-page pattern with easy-to-read charts. (They are big and have color!) The instructions are the same for each mitten (no trying to remember to move the thumb opening!)– this way, the hands held together show the whole urban vista. The palm of one matches the back of the hand of the other, and vice versa. The thumb shaping is by gusset increases and waste yarn; the held stitches are worked into a finished thumb at the very end. As always, my patterns are $4.25 and come with full email support if you encounter any difficulties!

Many thanks are due to Maura who knitted these beautiful model mittens while editing my pattern draft. I have worked up this pattern as well, but I made some changes to the charts after I finished my prototype, so I employed a speedy model knitter to get the final pair done while I’ve been busy on lots of other projects and announcements! I will show you the protoype version in a different post… I’ve been hiding those pictures from you for a while! But no longer. The Skyline Mittens are now officially all yours. Enjoy.
