A recurring theme on this blog has been my predictability with color.. I have a closet full of green and brown sweaters, and still those are the colors I’m drawn to in a yarn store! I like being comfy and consistent in my color choices, but it’s good to work outside of your comfort zone from time to time.

When I received this pretty pink “Berries & Cream” roving as part of a gift, I figured that since it was so far outside of my usual color palette, that my spinning project with it should accentuate that difference! I decided to take it over-the-top with cutesy sweetness, by adding the heart-shaped beads when I plied it. I’m not normally a very Valentine’s type of gal, but who could resist how sweetly seasonal this skein is?

It’s bulky weight merino that spun out to 220 yards in 148 grams. The super soft, non-superwash roving is from HuggyBearKnits, and luckily I’ve got other colorways of that lovely stuff that will be showing up here soon, too. I’ve named this skein “Heart-shaped Box,” but I have no idea what I will ever make with it… So, if you have an idea for it, click here!
