I did it again… I started a quickie project that was fun to knit, instead of working on older items that need dedication & completing. I used the Sheep & Wool hat pattern, because I knew the colorwork would be fun, and these days I am just loving the look of Noro stripes and a solid background. I bought Noro Silk Garden (because I had never tried it) and used Berroco Ultra Alpaca that I had stashed. I really like both of the yarns, but I think the finished hat is just OK:

I don’t know. Something about the color combination is just a little off-putting. Kind of “retro but not in a good way”? I’m sure I will be able to find a loving home for it… but that’s what you get for impulsive starting unplanned projects, I guess. Poor planning, poor execution… you get out what you put in?

I’ve been meaning to blog about this forever: I took this screenshot of my Ravelry notebook a while ago, on a day where I was adding something to it, and it struck me that I’m practically a color “one note.” Remember when I showed my closet’s colors? Well, as expected I have added reddish to my repertoire, but I do have a lot of yarn, projects, and clothing in the “greeny browny earthtones” category. Maybe I should just stick to what I know? At least I’m consistent:
