electric / eclectic
We lost power in the strong storms on Monday night, and just got it back this afternoon (on the second day without it). It was pretty frustrating to be without electricity, but everyone made it through OK (even the fishtank), with the exception of the food in the fridge. One benefit of the outage was that it delayed my posting this by a day or two, helping to guarantee that I don’t unintentionally spoil anyone’s surprise for the Chewy Spaghetti sock club’s July Blue Plate Special. (Hopefully everyone has had theirs delivered by now… if not, avert your eyes!)

The monthly sock kit contains my new “Roof Ridge Socks” pattern and this bold, fun new colorway from Chewy Spaghetti called “Eclectic.” (Obligatory Ravelry link: here.) I had a lot of fun watching the bright colors play out on this sock, which I designed with the potential difficulties of loudly multicolored sock yarns in mind. The biased stitches and slip-stitch panels play to the strengths of the varying hues, while the afterthought heel preserves the established striping and helps to avoid pooling over the top of the foot. I’m really happy with the way it came out! And judging from the early response on Ravelry, many other people are, too.

Once the sock club is over, this pattern will go on to live in the Chewy Spaghetti library, so it will be available through Khris’ site and wherever else Chewy Spaghetti can be found.

OK, When is the club over, because I want the pattern now! I think it will be great with my last woolgirl sock club because I’m not a huge fan of the pattern it came with and it is definitely loud and brightly colored!
Great work!
That’s a cool pattern…but not one that I really like. ;-)
Hope you’re well!
OMG, that is one awesome sock. Do tell us when it’s available, because I’ll want the pattern for sure! GREAT job.
Sorry about the power outage. Glad the fish tank survived. That is one of my worries, and actually a reason I don’t keep saltwater fish–I’d hate to lose them if the power went out in one of our many bad storms.
Fabulous sock!!! You are a great designer Em!
Hope you guys are all stocked up with your favorite “fiddle” items again! ;o)
Wow, what a neat sock pattern! Hey, a pattern that can stop/help to prevent a lot of pooling is one I need! :)
Great job! The yarn really does go perfectly with the pattern and emphasizes all the cool stitches. I enjoyed your crosswalkers patter and will definitely look this one up when it’s available.
Cool pattern! I want it! Did you do a standard long tail cast on? It’s kind of hard to tell in the photo but it almost looks like a tubular cast on. Maybe it’s the yarn color that makes it look that way. Really nice!
