I had to talk myself out of using the lyrics from the credits song for the video game Portal as the text for this blog post, but I’m not sure they would come off very well for any reader who doesn’t know the game and the song. You can view those lyrics here— the first few lines would have been good for describing my finished knitted toy. I’ve got that song stuck in my head so badly right now!

I’m really happy with the way the cube came out– stuffed with foam, it’s a really neat squishy/throwable toy (perfect for Rob’s “creative space” at work). I’m even happier that the 3-color stranded knitting is over with, and it’s a skill I probably won’t revisit anytime soon! Everything went extremely well with my first steeking and with sewing the panels together into a cube. I used my sewing machine for the majority of the seaming, but I had to hand sew (mattress stitch using thread) the last few seams once it was stuffed, and the hand sewing was easy enough that it wouldn’t have been unreasonable or too time consuming to hand sew the whole thing. The yarn is Knit Picks’ Palette in the colors Ash, Fog and Petal, and the pattern is available here.
