In addition to current knitting projects and reading material, I made sure to bring a new skein of sock yarn with me for gratuitous travelling yarn pictures! The seasonal changes may have motivated my purchase of his Twisted Fiber Arts Organic Stripes, or maybe it’s just great luck that the skein I chose blends perfectly with our surroundings here in New York this autumn.

The colorway name is “Chomp,” and I’m not sure what inspired that name, but the yarn does make me kind of drooly! Brown and green have been favorites for me recently, and I expect the yarn to make wide stripes on a pair of socks. It’s super soft and the skein is a generous 480 yards. You’d think I’d be seeing enough of sock yarn at work at Lorna’s Laces these days, but it’s made me into even more of a fiend for the hand-dyed goodies.

And just in case you’re thinking the only yellows around here are the yarn, the autumn leaves, and some leftover cornbread, I’m actually in the heart of New York City, but I was able to take the first few pictures in Carl Shurz park along the East River. It’s neat to find a little pocket of autumn in nature right in the heart of Manhattan:
