Skyline Hat
At first, I was considering holding onto this design, to launch it in February to celebrate my blog’s third anniversary, but I just can’t contain it any longer. Thanks to the suggestions of several fans of the Skyline Mittens pattern, I’m proud to release the pattern for the matching hat!

I just love the way the Skyline motif played out in hat form. To my (admittedly biased) eye, the urban scene is very recognizable, and the strong vertical design elements are benefited by the curved shape of being made to fit a head. Pair it with the Skyline Mittens, and stay warm this winter while showing your appreciation for, and comfort in, the urban environments that so often define our lives and livelihoods. Besides, it is so much fun to knit stranded colorwork, since you get to watch the design materialize, row-by-row, as you go!

The Skyline Hat knitting pattern is sized for adults, requires two skeins of Malabrigo Merino Worsted and the ability to read a knitting chart, and is for sale by .pdf download for $4.25. The pattern has been test-knitted, and I have made the chart as large as I can, to keep things easier on the eyes. Using the “Buy Now” button on this page will take you to a shopping cart where you can pay by Paypal and receive the pattern by immediate download. I am also offering the Hat + Mittens patterns as a set, with a discount, here in my Etsy shop.

As always, I would love to hear your feedback on this pattern. It was knitter feedback and ideas about the mittens that provided the inspiration for the hat to begin with! If you have any questions about the pattern or the automated download, please do not hesitate to let me know. Also, I would love to see your pictures and blog posts about your “skyline” themed projects!

Gorgeous!!
OMG I love the hat form of the skyline mittens!!!! I’m so happy you were able to figure out the translation from mittens to hat!!!!! A hat to be proud of!!!! It looks fantabulous.
Ohhhh this is so rad. Totally an aside, but I love the way the buildings seem to curve, Escher-esque, when the hat is laid flat.
That is such a clever design!
Great job on this! Your designs are getting better and better.
I want one! I can’t knit. Saw it at Beans on Montrose this morning.
