loving linen
Sometimes in-progress knitting projects are really hard to photograph. Even though it’s looking kind of blobby and amorphous, this project already bears the iconic traits that make it instantly recognizable: Clapotis. Since I’m using a fuzzy yarn, I’m dropping the stitches every right-side row instead of all at the end when they would be stuck together, so I have the pleasure of watching the distinctive rolly texture grow off the needles as I go!

The yarn is KidLin Laceweight from Louet, in a color I called “versatile in its vagueness” when I first showed it to you. I actually really enjoyed rereading that old yarn pr0n post just now, because I went to such lengths to describe this color! This time, though, I’ll just say, I know it’s not the worsted multi’s that many use people use for this pattern, but I love how it’s turning out in this color & fiber!

This yarn is very textural, and doesn’t feel very soft in the individual strands. But the knitted fabric feels wonderful and soft! And you know because it’s linen that it will only get better over time. I know I have mentioned it before, but I really love linen fabric and yarn because of that characteristic.

The first time I knitted this pattern, it took me almost a year, with a long period of hibernation/not working on it in between. This time, I’m only a few days into it and nearly 1/3 of the way finished! It’s fun knitting, and perfect for TV finale season. Unfortunately, any future photos I take of it when it’s farther along in progress will look almost exactly like these ones (just bigger!), but I’ll be sure to let you know how much I am loving it along the way.

Oh, wow. That looks wonderful in a solid yarn! And I can just imagine how lovely that linen must feel!
I love that pattern!
The linen is lovely!!!
That looks great. I bet it’ll be heavenly to wear once it’s done!
